How to Choose the Best Trading App for Beginners in India

This guide walks you through what to look for in a beginner trading app in India, from minimum deposits to platform choice. It also explains the RBI rules that affect which apps you can use and how to check a platform before you fund it.

Figures checked 13.10.2026

What a beginner should check before downloading any trading app

The first thing to check is how much money you need to start. Among the apps we reviewed, the minimum deposit ranges from $5 to $250. Deriv asks for $5, while Pocket Option also starts at $5. Stockity, Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option and Exnova all start at $10. BinaryCent is the outlier at $250.

Minimum trade size matters just as much for a beginner. Deriv lets you open a trade from $0.35, and BinaryCent from $0.10. Most other apps on our list start at $1 per trade. A lower minimum trade means you can practise with smaller amounts while you learn how the platform behaves.

You should also check which devices the app supports. Every app we reviewed runs on Android, iOS and the web. Deriv adds MT5 and TradingView, and Pocket Option adds MT4 and MT5. If you already use MT5 or TradingView, that can make the switch easier.

Finally, look at the deposit routes available to you in India. The common routes are UPI, bank transfer via IMPS or NEFT, Visa and Mastercard, and USDT. UPI is how most deposits are made here, usually through a payment partner rather than the platform itself. Cards are subject to your bank's international transaction limit, and USDT, usually TRC-20, is the route traders fall back on when a card is declined.

Comparing the beginner-friendly apps available to Indian users

Stockity has the lowest minimum deposit on our list at $10, with trades from $1 and a maximum payout of 90%. It runs on Android, iOS and the web through its own Stockity platform. For a beginner, the simple setup and low entry point are the main draws.

Deriv starts even lower at $5, with trades from $0.35 and a maximum payout of 100%. It offers the widest platform choice: Android, iOS, web, MT5 and TradingView, plus its own Deriv Trader, Deriv X and SmartTrader. That flexibility is useful if you want to move from a simple app to a more advanced setup later.

Pocket Option has a $5 minimum deposit, trades from $1 and a maximum payout of 92%. It supports Android, iOS, web, MT4 and MT5. Quotex starts at $10, trades from $1 and offers a maximum payout of 98% on Android, iOS and web. IQ Option starts at $10, trades from $1 and offers up to 95% on Android, iOS and web.

Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option and Exnova all start at $10 with trades from $1. Their maximum payouts are 95%, 90%, 95% and 92% respectively. BinaryCent has the highest deposit requirement at $250, but the lowest minimum trade at $0.10 and a maximum payout of 92%. For most beginners, the $5 to $10 deposit range is the more realistic starting point.

What the Reserve Bank of India rules mean for trading apps

The Reserve Bank of India authorises persons dealing in foreign exchange and the electronic trading platforms they may use, under FEMA. It does not license offshore forex platforms and fixed-time contracts. That distinction is the single most important thing for an Indian beginner to understand before funding any app.

In November 2025, the RBI referred to its own Alert List of entities not authorised to deal in foreign exchange under FEMA or to operate an electronic trading platform. The list contained 95 entities as of 19.11.2025, and the RBI states the list is not exhaustive. It also states that a resident trading outside permitted purposes or on an unauthorised platform is liable under FEMA.

What does this mean in practice? Before you deposit, check whether the app you are considering appears on the RBI Alert List. The list is the regulator's own record of entities it has flagged, and it is the most direct way to check an offshore platform from India.

This does not mean every offshore app is automatically on the list, and it does not mean the list covers everything. The RBI itself says the list is not exhaustive. But if a platform is on it, that is a clear signal to stop and reconsider. If a platform is not on it, that is not by itself a green light: you still need to check what the platform actually offers and whether it fits within what FEMA permits.

Licences and warnings you should look up yourself

Different apps hold different licences, and some hold none that we could find. Deriv lists MFSA 70156, Labuan FSA MB/18/0024 and VFSC company No. 14556. Pocket Option lists MISA (Mwali) T2022086. IQ Option lists CySEC 247/14 (EEA). Olymp Trade lists VFSC company No. 40131 (Aollikus Limited) and membership of the Financial Commission. Binomo lists IFC (FinaCom) Category A. Expert Option lists membership of the Financial Commission.

Quotex and Exnova have no licence found in any register we read. BinaryCent also has no licence found in any register we read. A missing licence is not the same as a warning, but it does mean there is no regulator on record that you can turn to if something goes wrong.

Warnings are a separate matter. Pocket Option has warnings on record from the FCA, Consob and CFTC. Exnova has withdrawal complaints and a no-regulator flag on record. BinaryCent has the longest list: a VFSC notice of fraud, a CFTC red-list entry, an AMF blacklist entry and an FMA NZ warning.

None of these warnings come from the RBI, and an overseas warning does not automatically mean an app is blocked in India. But warnings from major regulators are a useful signal. If a platform has been flagged by multiple authorities in different countries, a beginner should treat that as a reason to dig deeper before depositing any money.

How to start safely with a small amount

Start with the smallest deposit the app allows, not the amount you eventually want to trade with. On most apps we reviewed, that means $5 or $10. Deriv and Pocket Option start at $5. Stockity, Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option and Exnova start at $10. BinaryCent starts at $250, which is a much bigger commitment for a first test.

Use a payment route you can trace. In India, the common options are: - UPI, usually through a payment partner rather than the platform itself - Bank transfer via IMPS or NEFT from any Indian bank - Visa and Mastercard, subject to your bank's international transaction limit - USDT, usually TRC-20, when a card is declined

Keep records of every deposit and withdrawal. If something goes wrong, the Income Tax Department may ask about foreign transactions, and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal is the place to report fraud. Having your UPI reference, bank statement or USDT transaction ID makes any report easier to file.

Finally, treat the first deposit as a learning cost, not an investment. A beginner's goal is to understand how the app executes trades, how withdrawals work and how the platform behaves under real conditions. The payout percentages in our table are maximums, not promises, and no app can guarantee a return. Start small, test the withdrawal process early, and only add more money once you have seen how the full cycle works.
